Book review: Creative Confidence

Creative Confidence is a book by Tom Kelley & David Kelley and is definitely a book to read! It focussed on the concept that creativity isn’t just for artists but in our blood. They convey the idea that although society does not always accept this notion of creativity as important, you can still practice your creative muscle and have a great impact using your creativity.
The main topics the book explores are:
- Creativity is about different kinds of innovation, not just art masterpieces
- Creativity is becoming highly desirable and crucial for our ever-changing world
- Develop the courage to explore your creativity, this will be an exciting journey
- Allow yourself to fail to succeed, as it would be a learning experience
- New experiences will help you explore the creativity within you
- Find and work with other people who support and share your passion
- Channel your creativity to improve your work and make you happier
My favourite quote: “At its core, creative confidence is about believing in your ability to create change in the world around you. It is the conviction that you can achieve what you set out to do. We think this self-assurance, this belief in your creative capacity, lies at the heart of innovation.”
By the time you finish this book, you will want to have your entire workspace covered in whiteboards, buy all sorts of stickies, just brainstorm and create! Which for those that know me, is what I live for!
